For most families I work with—yes, visits are fully covered. Lactation support is one of those benefits many plans include but few parents know about, meaning your visit could cost you nothing out of pocket. No bills to worry about, no claims to file, no paperwork on your end. I handle all of the billing directly, so you can focus on your baby. Learn more below.

Is a lactation consultant covered by insurance?

Insurance Coverage

I'm in-network with several major insurance carriers and two partner organizations. Every plan is a little different, which is why the first step is always a quick eligibility check to confirm your insurance will cover lactation consultant visits. You can contact your insurance company directly using the member services number on the back of your insurance card, or visit your insurance carrier’s website linked below.

Don’t see your plan listed? Provide me with the specifics of your insurance plan and I can help you determine the coverage benefits you are entitled to. If you have Blue Cross Blue Shield or Anthem, please reach out so we can discuss your options. I am here to help answer your questions.

The only possible cost: a small travel fee

If your visit is covered, the only lactation consultant fees you might pay are a small travel fee, based on your distance from me. I'll confirm whether one applies before your first visit. Travel fees are paid at the time of your visit by Venmo, Zelle, or cash.

Out of network? Please still reach out

Access to a free lactation consultant through insurance is wonderful, but it isn't the only way we can work together. Self-pay visits are $200, and I'll provide a receipt you can submit to your insurance for possible reimbursement. Payment is due at the time of your visit via Venmo, Zelle, or cash.
